The origins of the Masseria
An engraving on the stone at the entrance to the main trullo of Masseria Cappuccini dates back the birth of this complex to 1777. The original Masseria was a large farm and in the trulli were located the owner's house, the lodgings of the farmers who carried the land, the stables, the deposits for crops and, outside, an ancient threshing floor used for the wheat threshing.
In 1995 an important and accurate work of recovery and restructuring of this impressive complex began, with the aim of ensuring the preservation and conservation of the architectural structure, typical of the masserie of Salento and Puglia in general.
The restoration has been carried out in compliance with the original building typology and has enhanced the trulli preserving the authentic elements such as floors, alcoves and all the stone details. The result is an elegant residence expertly restored and used as a farmhouse with pool in an environment characterized by strong cultural and family traditions.
